The Fire Prevention Division of the Highland Village Fire Department serves both the residents and businesses of our community through prevention and education. Our goal is prevention and safety to prevent fires through public education, inspections, and enforcing standards as set out by the International Fire Code.
The Office of the Fire Marshal reviews construction plans for Fire Alarms, Fire Sprinkler Systems, Hood Systems, Hazmat and Site Plans to ensure they meet the current building and fire codes for prevention, detection and suppression within our area businesses. Prevention staff will inspect these safety systems annually to ensure full functionality and compliance.
Residents Residential fire prevention is crucial for the safety and well-being of our residents and the Fire Prevention Division accomplishes this through a combination of Home Inspections and Prevention Education. Residents are highly encouraged to to be aware of prevention methods, such as where a smoke detector should be in their home, how often to test and how often to replace units. Smoke detectors, Carbon Monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers are all very important tools to homeowners in the prevention of devastating home fires.
